L2Board includes an extensive framework for modules to extend and change L2Board’s functionality, generally without you having to make any changes by hand. Many modules can be downloaded from the L2Board modules area.
Although many modules focus on adding new areas to L2Board, they always interact with the core of L2Board and thus can introduce unexpected behavior and bugs. modules that change the behavior of or extend existing L2Board functionality are more likely to create bugs and conflicts.
Please be aware that we are unable to provide any support for problems involving or caused by a third-party add-on. You will need to contact the add-on author for guidance.
If you have a problem with L2Board and you are using third-party modules, please uninstall all modules and themes customizations and see if you can still reproduce the problem. If you cannot, then the problem is likely caused by an add-on or customization. You should re-install your modules one by one until the problem comes back and you’ve identified the specific cause. If the problem still occurs with modules and customizations disabled, it may be a bug or problem within L2Board itself and we can work to resolve this with you through an email(firstname.lastname@example.org).
In L2Board, all modules should have a standardized zip format. This guide assumes the module is in that format.
The process for installing and upgrading an add-on is essentially identical.
Once you have downloaded the add-on you want, go to the L2Board admin area of your site. Open the dropdown menu “Dev” and click on the “Modules” option. There access “install module”. Using the file input, select the downloaded module zip file and upload it to the server.
If you are upgrading an module, backup your database and module directory before upload it.
Once the files are uploaded, in the L2Board control panel, go to the modules section. The module you just uploaded should be listed as module.
First backup your database and module directory(in application/modules) before upload it.
Download the module update you want in L2Board download area. After that, go to the L2Board admin area of your site. Open the dropdown menu “Dev” and click on the “Modules” option. There access “install module”. Using the file input, select the downloaded module zip file and upload it to the server.
Uninstalling an module will remove it from your L2Board installation completely. Any data associated with the module will be removed. You will not be able to recover that data after uninstalling the module!
To uninstall an module, choose “uninstall/remove/delete” button for the module you want to uninstall. The public uploads files you or the L2Board users uploaded will not be removed when uninstalling an module. These must be removed manually via FTP. These files are in an directory with the module name in the pubic uploads folder at root directory.
